The best thing about traveling is being able to leave all your troubles behind, but sometimes that can be hard to do if you are worrying about the safety of your home during your absence. Here are 3 tips to help give you a peace of mind the next time you take off!
Leave a light on. Leaving the front and/or back porch lights on can make your neighbors and others think you are still at home. This also deters people from getting close due to the light. Not only can you leave a couple lights on outside, you may even want to leave a light on inside the house for extra measures.
Ask a neighbor/relative/coworker to house sit. Now, the point is to ask someone you trust to make an appearance at your home, whether it be them staying at your house the entire time you are gone, or spending a couple hours at your home to take out the trash, and pick up mail, etc. This arrangement is based off your needs again, so think it over and ask away!
Invest in a security homes system. Talk with those you trust and your realtor for recommendations on what security company will do the job of securing your home for the price you want. You can even do an internet search to see which one best fits your needs. The wonderful thing about security systems is that there are various add ons you can obtain, based on your budget. It can be as simple or complex as you would like. You can also set up your own security system, omitting the company. All I have to say is you have options, so get clear on what you want. ;)
